Tim Newman reprises the role of Simon in Jesus Christ Superstar at the Barbican!

Tim trained at London Studio Centre and has amassed a wealth of theatre experience, including a 2011 WhatsOnStage Nominee for Best Supporting Actor in a Musical. His Theatre Credits include Memphis (Shaftesbury Theatre), Simon in Jesus Christ Superstar (Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre & the National Arena Tour), Jonny in All The Fun Of The Fair (Garrick Theatre & UK Tour) and Pepper in Mamma Mia! (International Tour) to name only a few. Tim is on the Original London Cast Recording for All The Fun Of The Fair and is also the Principle of The Brighton Academy – a full time performing arts college for young performers.

Originally written as a rock opera album, Jesus Christ Superstar made its explosive debut on the Broadway stage in 1971. The show transferred to the West End the following year where it ran for eight years and went on to become one of the most enduring musicals of its time.Its rock musicians, contemporary design and thrilling choreography make this energetic and emotionally charged production unforgettable.
